Canyoning trips in the Cévennes: Orgon waterfalls canyon

Located 20 minutes from Le Vigan, the Cascades d’Orgon canyon is a wild and magical place where you’ll find a variety of workshops. Above, you can see the start of the canyon, with a first abseil of 15 m!

The water in this canyon is cool and clear. It’s a granitic canyon known as “horse-tooth granite”, because it contains feldspar. Les cascades d’Orgon is an intermediate-level canyon open to climbers aged 12 and over.

The approach takes 45 minutes through the forest and a good 3 hours downhill.

During this descent, you’ll learn to abseil independently. You’ll be introduced to several jump heights (not compulsory). You’ll also have the chance to launch yourself down the famous ejectable slide at the halfway point. You start off in the toboggan position and end up ejected into a large deep-water basin. Thrills guaranteed.

The ideal season for this magnificent canyon is spring, from late April to early July.

Canyoning trips in the Cévennes with le canyon du tapoul!

The Tapoul canyon is a compendium of all the difficulties and “fun” workshops found in canyoning.

It’s located in the village of Rousse in the Lozère Cévennes, next to Mont Aigoual. It takes 1h45 from Montpellier.

This is an intermediate to sporty canyon open to 12-year-olds and over. It takes 3 hours to complete. Departure is from the village of Rousse via a shuttle bus that runs back and forth all day.

You can try and perfect your abseiling skills, and make jumps of up to 10 m (not compulsory). In the middle of the course, you’ll be in for a big surprise with a “splash” zip line. You can also enjoy the geological wonder that is the Tapoul Gorge.

The Tapoul canyon is open in spring and throughout the summer, until the end of August.

I look forward to seeing you again in these little corners of paradise! See you next spring!
