Sporty canyoning in the Cévennes

The Tapoul Canyon in the Cévennes offers you a breath of fresh air: as you climb the D269 road towards Mont-Aigoual, you’ll begin to appreciate the pure mountain air.

The temperature difference between the coast and Mont-Aigoual is striking, and it’s a pleasure to be up there in summer. Canyoning in the Cévennes takes place on granite rock, so the atmosphere is very different from that of limestone canyons.

On this descent you’ll encounter all the fun of canyoning.

A 10-minute shuttle (€3.50/person + mask) takes you to the canyon entrance.

ON THE MENU

– Several jumps are possible (but not compulsory) on this 5, 8 and 10m course, including the famous waterfall jump.

– Recall watered from 5 to 10m.

– Mysterious passages under caves and waterfalls.

– Water-droppable zipline with great thrills.

Description

After meeting your guide in the parking lot of the “La Ruche” restaurant (Rousse – Lozère 48400), you’ll equip yourself with the equipment included in the package (wetsuit, helmet, harness, bag with watertight container).

A safety briefing will inform you of the steps to take at technical points on the course. Then it’s time for the fun part, with a series of swims in clear water reaches, sections under waterfalls, jumps (not compulsory), abseils on ropes, slides on natural toboggans and other mysterious sections…

Geology buffs? The Cévennes region is characterized by feldspar rock (horse-tooth granite). The metamorphic rocks of the Cyon de Tapoul reveal the colossal amount of work done by the forces of nature to create this landscape for us to contemplate.
